Fripp Island Friends of Music
Our Charitable Mission: Music in the Schools
Every Season:
● Students are admitted free to our Sunday concerts.
● Student musicians open Sunday shows, providing them performance experience.
● Our artists perform at an area school the Monday morning after the Fripp show.
● We provide an annual grant to the Beaufort Symphony Youth Orchestra.
In Addition! $20,000 during the past 3 years:
February 2024 and 2026: Key financial support for the “Electrify Your Symphony” student workshop and concert.
March 2024: Funded an “Artists-in-Residency” 2-day workshop at St. Helena Elementary.
April 2024 and March 2025: Funded travel costs for students of need for orchestra and band trips to Atlanta and Carowinds for music competitions.
March and November 2025: Licensing & materials fees for the musical production of The Lion King, Jr. (grades 4 – 8), and new sound equipment, at the Robert Smalls Leadership Academy
School Grants:
Whale Branch Early College High School: Develop their band Music Library for 2 years
Robert Smalls Leadership Academy: Build their Music Library
Shanklin Elementary School: Initiate an "Artist in Residence" program with Robert Smalls Leadership Academy Band, Choir and Orchestra
Beaufort High School: Build their Music Library
Lady's Island Elementary School: Purchase instruments to initiate a drumline
Whale Branch Middle School: Purchase of a beginning band curriculum
